How to Fix iTunes Errors 16xx (1600,1601,1602,1603,1604)
There are steps you can take to prevent 16XX errors. Here they are as we help you troubleshoot your errors.
Step 1: Make sure the latest iTunes software is installed on your computer. Having the latest software installed can often prevent problems because they have improvements to past editions that may have bugs. You also want to make sure your computer’s operating system is updated.
Step 2: Make sure your USB ports are working well. Change the port if you see a 1604 error. Try not using hubs to connect your iPhone to your computer.
Step 3: Backup all data and enter your Apple device in DFU mode if you are trying to update it. ITunes will recognize your device is in DFU mode and suggest that you restore it. Restoring your iPhone should correct the error.
Step 5: Download and use the iReb app.
- Download IPSW firmware file for the iOS to which you are updating.
- Open iTunes and put iPhone in DFU mode.
- Close iTunes and start iReb.
- Select your device in iReb.
- The screen will turn white and red. After it does, open iTunes.
- Tap on “Shift+Restore” on Windows or “Option+Restore” on Mac and tap which IPSW file you downloaded in first step.
- Finish the restoration.
Step 6: Make sure your computer security software is up to date. Security software that isn’t up to date may be causing your error.
We hope one of these steps will clear your 16XX error. We understand that 16XX errors make it difficult to use iTunes, especially if you are updating, downgrading or restoring your Apple device.
