How to Install iCleaner Pro without Jailbreaking Your iPhone / iPad

It’s that fear many of us have. Our iPhones run out of room to download more apps, store more photos, take more videos and so on. We just love our phones except when they get full.

Why don’t we like it then? Because we have to part with those favorite apps or videos. Or do we?

Apple doesn’t give users any tools to clean up their iPad or iPhone file systems, but there is a utility that does. Welcome to iCleaner. Formerly just a tweak on jailbroken phones, you can now install it without jailbreaking your iPhone.

The iCleaner is terrific at removing cookies, cache, temporary files and other unnecessary files and freeing up space. You may have heard about it because it’s downloadable as a tweak from Cydia, the beloved place for jailbroken apps. It can now be sideloaded without jailbreaking.

Housekeeping Notes

There are a few things you need to keep in mind. The iCleaner app you are downloading is limited compared to the one on Cydia and isn’t from the official iCleaner creator. You also have to sideload it every seven days.

Why every seven days? You are creating a free Apple developer account that will expire in seven days. Once it expires, you have to create another temporary free account.

One concern noted is that users experience a different user interface than they expect because it doesn’t have a support for bigger iPhone resolutions.

If running Impactor on Windows, you must have iTunes installed.

For those familiar with Xcode, Cydia Impactor is an alternative for it. The downside to Xcode, a software development tool developed by Apple, was that it couldn’t be used on Windows without running Windows as a virtual machine. You do not need Xcode installed to use Impactor and sign IPA files.

Just one more note. Cydia Impactor is still in development. If you have any issues with it, go back to the page from where you downloaded it and leave a note for the developer.
