Touch Screen Not Working on Google Pixel / XL [Google Pixel / Pixel 2]: How to Fix this Issue
Users of Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones have reported problems with their phones’ touch screens not working. Reports indicate the touch screen is not always responsive towards the bottom of the screen. This can be inconvenient because apps and controls on that end of the phone have to be moved to be used.
There are various reasons for this problem including software bugs. While Google releases software updates, it sometimes is awhile before bugs are addressed.
The smartphone may have also been damaged during shipping.
Touch Screen Not Working on Google Pixel / XL [Google Pixel / Pixel 2]: How to Fix this Issue:
Turn Your Phone On/Off
This fix is often suggested as one of the first things to try. Sometimes problems with smartphones are solved simply by turning them off then back on.
Remove the SIM Card
This is another easy fix to try. Turn off your smartphone and take the SIM card out, then reinsert the SIM card and turn back on your phone.
Clear Phone Cache
Deleting the cache can often solve problems you have with your Google Pixel or Pixel XL phone.
Step 1: Turn your phone off.
Step 2: Press and hold its Volume Up, Power and Home buttons at the same time until you see the Android logo and the phone vibrates.
Step 3: Let go of the Power button but hold the other buttons.
Step 4: Use the volume buttons to scroll down and highlight Wipe Cache Partition.
Step 5: Press the phone’s Power button.
Step 6: Scroll down to Yes and press the Power button.
Step 7: Scroll to Reboot System Now and press the Power button.
Your smartphone will reboot with its system cache cleared.
Complete a Hard Reset
Sometimes it takes doing a hard reset to cure your smartphone of problems. Just remember doing a hard reset deletes data, apps and settings. Make sure to back up your Pixel or Pixel XL so that your data is not lost. If you have your data backed up, you’re good to proceed.
Step 1: Turn off your phone.
Step 2: Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons until you see the Android logo.

Step 4: When prompted, select “Yes – delete all user data.”
Step 5: Select “reboot system now.”
Complete a Factory Reset
If nothing else has worked, perform a factory reset on your smartphone. This restores the phone to how it was when you first bought it, so make sure to back up your data.
Step 1: Enter your phone’s notification setting and select the gear icon then Settings.
Step 2: When the Settings page comes up, select Backup and Reset under User and Backup.
Step 3: Select Factory Data Reset.
Step 4: When you are sure everything is backed up, scroll to the bottom of your screen and select Reset Device.
Step 5: When the next screen appears, select Delete All and wait for the process to end.
Step 6: The phone will reboot when the process is finished.
