Have you heard of Snapchat Spectacles? If you’re into wearable tech you’ve most likely heard of this latest trend. Snapchat video recording Spectacles are now on sale. Considering there is a limited number available, get ready to get in line.

These camera-equipped sunglasses send 10-second clips to your phone. Spectacles, Snapchat’s first hardware product, feature a camera with 115-degree lens that shoots video from eye level. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on Spectacles you will have to pair it to your Android phone or iPhone.

How to Pair and Use Snapchat Spectacles with Your Phone and android

Step #1: Charge them up

Each pair of Spectacles comes with a charging case and a charging cable. The charging case doubles as a charger and a case and can recharge your Spectacles about four times before the case itself must be charged.

Remove the clear plastic film from the magnetic charging connectors near the button before you try to charge the Spectacles. That’s your first step, and one that will cause you a lot of frustration if you skip it.

Each charge will get you about 100 snaps. It takes about an hour to fully charge the Spectacles within the case. To see how much power you have left in your Spectacles, double tap the LED indicator on the front of the glasses or open up the Snapchat app’s settings. To check the charge on your case, see how many of four dots remain lit on the case.

When the case needs recharged, you can plug it into the adapter and connect it to a wall outlet.

Step #2: Pair them up

Spectacles use Bluetooth to pair up to your smartphone. It’s pretty simple to pair the two devices. Grab your smartphone and turn on its Bluetooth, open your Snapchat app and go to Settings, the gear icon, and scroll down to Spectacles. Select Spectacles and, where it says Pair New Device, tap on Pair Spectacles.

You will be asked to name your Spectacles. After you name it and it pops up in the Accessories list, the Snapchat app will display a QR code. That code is your Snapcode. Press the record button on your Spectacles, store at the QR code so that your Spectacles can read the code and wait for the two devices to pair up.

The record button is at the top of the left lens above the light. Press it once while looking directly at the Snapcode while holding your phone about 12 inches in front of you.

Now you should be ready to go.

Step #3: Use your Spectacles

Your Spectacles only have one button, that button on the left. When you tap it, it will record 10 seconds of video. Tap it again and you get another 10 seconds. You can record up to 30 seconds at a time.

The camera’s 115-degreee lens approximates how your eyes see through a circular field of view. It’s great when you’re on the go. Imagine having a GoPro snapped to your face. Granted, you wouldn’t want to do that. That’s why you have your Spectacle glasses.

Step #4: Are you recording?

Not sure if it’s recording, when it’s snapping away you will see an inward-facing light. There is also an outward-facing light that tells others you are recording.

Step #5: View your Snap videos

Your glasses save your snaps until you are in range of your iOS or Android device. When you’re in range, it will automatically transfer. Give it a few minutes to fully transfer and show up.

Got an iPhone? The videos import automatically over Bluetooth. If you want your video to be higher resolution, tap the Get HD button to instead transfer over WiFi.

You can transfer over WiFi if you have an Android phone. When you’re not in range of WiFi, it will transfer using Bluetooth.

Look for your videos in your All tab in memories. They will also be in a new specs tab. Three 10-second recordings will be split up in three 10-second snaps.

You will notice quality videos. They appear in a circular video format similar to what you’d see using a fisheye lens on a camera. They will fill your phone screen. Tilt your phone to see them at different angles.

That’s how you pair your Spectacles and view your creations. Enjoy using your Spectacles and see where your imagination takes you.
